Host Frequently Asked Questions
What is SAVORlife?

SAVORlife is one of the signature events of Aunt Rita's Foundation, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. The concept is simple. Invite your friends to dinner and in exchange, they make a donation ($25 minimum per guest) to Aunt Rita's Foundation. You and your guests are then invited to attend The Sugar & Champagne SAVORlife Soirée at the Phoenix Art Museum.

How do I get involved?

Sign up online to host a dinner. You may also register by mail or by calling Aunt Rita's Foundation at 602-882-8675.

What are my responsibilities as a Dinner Host?
  • INVITE the guests of your choice.
  • HOST your dinner and have a great time with your friends.
  • COLLECT and submit your guests' donations.
  • ATTEND the Sugar & Champagne SAVORlife Soirée.
When should I have my dinner?

You may host your dinner anytime during the month of March.

Whom do I invite?

You may invite whomever you like — friends, family, co-workers, members of your church or your softball team — the list is entirely up to you. Invite as many people as you wish; there is no minimum or maximum guest requirement.

What do I serve for dinner?

From a barbecue to a four-course, sit-down dinner, the choice is yours. Be creative. Host a “Create Your Own Pizza” dinner or serve cocktails and appetizers. If you can't cook, order take-out or have it catered. If your home is too small, host a dinner at your favorite restaurant. If you aren't able to host an event on your own, consider co-hosting with friends to share the cost, or hold a potluck with a large group where everyone brings a dish and a donation.

How much do I charge my guests?

The minimum donation per dinner guest for 2010 is $25. So, if you invite ten friends to dinner, you will raise at least $250 for Aunt Rita's Foundation. There is no maximum donation amount. Provided the minimum is met, the sky's the limit. More funds raised mean more support to people living with HIV/AIDS. Each guest who makes a donation of at least $25 will be placed on a guest list for the Sugar & Champagne SAVORlife Soirée. Dinner hosts will also be placed on the guest list for the Soirée, if they wish.

What do I do with the money I raise?

Have your guests register for your dinner online, where they can conveniently donate with their credit or debit card. For those who wish to donate by check or cash, have them bring their donations to your event. We will arrange to meet you to pick up your guest list and your donations.

What is a Public dinner?

Public dinners are listed on the web site and are open for anyone to attend. Normally, only the larger Dinners hosted by the Benefiting Agencies are designated as Public.

If you list your dinner as Public, you will have no control over who attends. Great idea if you are at a public venue with lots of room. Bad idea if you are hosting it in your living room.

Where and when is the Sugar and Champagne SAVORlife Soiree?

The Soirée will be held at the stunning Phoenix Art Museum on Friday, April 9, 2010. The museum is located at 1625 N. Central Ave. (McDowell Road and Central Avenue).

May I host on April 9?

You can still host a dinner on behalf of Aunt Rita's Foundation. You and all of your guests who make the minimum donation may attend the Soirée. You must bring your sign-in sheet and donations with you.

How do I get on the guest list for the Soirée?

You will receive a guest sign-in sheet prior to your dinner. Anyone who wishes to attend the Soirée will complete the guest sign-in sheet and be placed on the Soirée guest list. Please ensure that you turn in your completed sign-in sheet with your donations immediately following your dinner.

I still have questions...
